‘3 Body Problem’ Creators Reveal How They Pranked Eiza González With A Fake Script

González played Dr. Augustina Salazar in the Netflix series that came out in March 2024.

David Benioff and Dan Weiss pranked Eiza González with a fake script while filming ‘3 Body Problem’ Season 1.

“We gave Eiza a monologue—a three-page monologue mostly written by ChatGPT, that she was supposed to learn the next day,” Weiss recently revealed to The Hollywood Reporter.

Benioff added, “We had ChatGPT do it, then we had to go through it and make it seem like it could potentially be a screenplay.”

The three-minute monologue was about a swimming pool and involved the first 50–60 digits of Pi. But producer Bernadette Caulfield stopped the prank before it went too far.

“Bernie was so tired, at that point she was like, ‘I don’t have the energy to pretend fake things are happening because there are 500 real things that are happening,’” Weiss recalled. “She told [González], ‘No you don’t have to learn a monologue about a swimming pool that lasts three pages.’”

The showrunners pulled similar pranks on actors in their previous projects, as well. They gave Kit Harington a fake script that had Jon Snow’s face burned during the ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 1 production and told him he would look like a ghoul for the rest of the show.

The two also tricked John Bradley a few seasons later by telling him that Samwell Tarly was getting a new costume and making him wear a foolish Henry VIII style outfit with a large purple codpiece.

Weiss and Benioff will return for a second season of ‘3 Body Problem’ in the future. The third season of the show is also confirmed.
