Lily Gladstone Officially Joins The Cast Of Charlie Kaufman’s Sci-Fi Movie ‘The Memory Police’

The film is based on a novel and will be directed by Reed Morano.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lily Gladstone has officially joined the cast of Charlie Kaufman’s adaptation of Yoko Ogawa’s science fiction novel ‘The Memory Police.’

Yoko Ogawa’s ‘The Memory Police‘ was originally published in 1994 and translated into English in 2019. It is set on an unnamed island where objects, memories, and even people are systematically forgotten. The novel was a finalist for several prestigious awards, including Japan’s Akutagawa Prize and the Yomiuri Prize.

In ‘The Memory Police,’ Gladstone will be joined by a talented team. As per THR, Martin Scorsese of the ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ is on board as an executive producer alongside Ogawa. Reed Morano and Margot Hand of Picture Films spearhead the production. The film also has a script written by Charlie Kaufman.

Gladstone Was Recently Nominated for an Oscar

The announcement follows Gladstone’s recent accolade as the first Native American actor nominated for an Oscar for her role in Martin Scorsese’s ‘Killers of the Flower Moon.’

Gladstone’s portrayal of Mollie Kyle in the film earned her an Oscar nomination and won her the Golden Globe for Best Actress earlier this month, making her the first Indigenous woman to receive this honor.

Besides her involvement in ‘The Memory Police,’ Gladstone’s career continues. According to her IMDb page, she’ll appear in the TV series ‘Under the Bridge’ as Cam Bentland.
