Ms. Marvel’s Iman Vellani Is Sure She’ll Return To MCU, She Just Doesn’t Know When

Vellani, who plays Ms. Marvel, has been told she will be back in the Marvel movies. But she does not know when this will happen.

As per Polygon, Iman Vellani, the actress behind Kamala Khan in the ‘Ms. Marvel’ series, recently shared thoughts about her future within the Marvel universe.

According to Vellani, while the exact details and timing remain unclear, Marvel ensured her that Ms. Marvel would make a comeback in future MCU projects:

“I have been assured. So that feels good, but there was no more assurance than that. [laugh] They give me breadcrumbs, and I try and make a meal out of it.”

This update comes after speculation about a Young Avengers movie, which could theoretically feature Vellani’s Ms. Marvel alongside other young superheroes, such as Hailee Steinfeld’s Hawkeye and Kathryn Newton’s Stinger.

Will There Be a Second Season of ‘Ms. Marvel’?

Since her debut in the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel and her appearance in the 2023 film ‘The Marvels,’ the fate of Vellani’s character, especially in light of The Marvels’ underperformance, has been a topic of speculation.

The ‘Ms. Marvel’ series has been a critical success since its premiere on June 8, 2022. The series not only introduced fans to Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old Avengers fangirl who gains her own powers but also set the stage for the events of ‘The Marvels.’ Despite the film’s performance, the series’ and Vellani’s portrayal received a positive reception.

Looking ahead, discussions about a potential second season of the ‘Ms. Marvel’ series have been underway, with decisions expected to follow ‘The Marvels’ release. In December last year, Vellani expressed her eagerness to explore more of Kamala’s story, including the possibility of introducing Doc.X as a villain:

“I think [Doc.X is] a great villain from the comics and can really resonate with the Gen Z audience. It would be so interesting—I don’t know, messing with kids’ psyche almost when you have this villain who only exists on your phone, and on your laptops, and on all your screens that we can’t avoid. I think it’d be a really interesting position to put them all in to fight against something that you can’t even see, right? Yeah. Yeah, that’s one of my favorite comic storylines. So I would love to see that play out.”

With Ms. Marvel now identified as a mutant character, there’s also potential for Vellani to be involved in the MCU’s future X-Men endeavors.

In the meantime, fans of Vellani’s Ms. Marvel can look forward to seeing the character in animated form. Vellani confirmed her role in the upcoming Marvel Zombies series, where her character is described as playing a Frodo-like role among a group of surviving superheroes.
