Young Sheldon Star Says Cancellation Is Not Fair For ‘The Number One Show’

Annie Potts questions why CBS would cancel such a successful show.

Annie Potts isn’t happy about CBS’s decision to end ‘Young Sheldon’ after seven seasons.

‘Young Sheldon’ is now set to conclude despite its popularity. Annie Potts recently told AssignmentX that she’s in disbelief over the cancellation:

“It’s sad, because I didn’t expect it. We’re the Number One show on network TV, and the Number One show on Netflix. Who cancels this?”

Potts also shared a touching goodbye video to Meemaw on Instagram, which you can watch here.

Why Did CBS Do This In The First Place?

‘Young Sheldon’ follows the early years of Sheldon Cooper, who you probably know from ‘The Big Bang Theory.’

The show’s end makes sense if you think about how ‘The Big Bang Theory’ story goes. Sheldon needs to finish college and move to Pasadena for his future studies, and ‘The Big Bang Theory’ picks up his story from that point. CBS didn’t want to change the show’s direction, so they had to cancel it.

CBS is now planning a new show about Sheldon’s brother Georgie and his girlfriend Mandy. It will be in a different style and won’t include many characters from ‘Young Sheldon.’

‘Young Sheldon’ airs every Thursday at 8 pm ET on CBS.
