Confirmed: ‘X-Men ’97’s Morph Is In Love With Wolverine

The showrunner confirmed that Morph’s feelings are romantic.

X-Men ’97 showrunner Beau DeMayo confirmed that Morph has a romantic interest in Wolverine.

In the Season finale, Morph cares for Wolverine after Magneto rips the adamantium from his skeleton. Morph tells Wolverine that he loves him and encourages him to keep fighting. DeMayo confirmed on Twitter that this was a romantic confession:

“Yes, Morph was confessing romantic feelings for Logan.”

This Isn’t The First Time

There have been hints of a deeper relationship between the two throughout the season. Morph transformed into Sabretooth in a scene and rolled in the grass with Wolverine. In another one, Morph teased Wolverine by transforming into Jean during a nightclub scene.

One of the most shocking moments saw Morph walk in on Wolverine in the shower. It turned out to be an illusion, but this scene led fans to speculate about a possible romantic relationship. Some even asked for more intimate scenes between the two.

Morph is non-binary, which means they don’t identify strictly as male or female.

X-Men ’97 Has Lots of Drama and Romance

There are other romantic storylines in ‘X-Men ’97’ as well. One plot involves a love triangle between Magneto, Rogue, and Gambit. Matthew Waterson, who voices Magneto, recently explained that the relationship between Rogue and Magneto actually has a historical basis:

“That’s one where, again, I have to admit, I didn’t know that there was history in the canon for that. So, we talked about it, and the explanation of that is a relation, that’s not something that came about in this interaction. That was something that was there historically before Rogue and Gambit. And it’s a revisiting of that.”

Rogue gets closer to Magneto and this causes problems with Gambit in the show.
