Charlie Cox Explains The Big Change Of Plans For ‘Daredevil: Born Again’

Cox explained that this change was made to improve the series.

Marvel Studios is bringing Daredevil back with ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ but there’s something new in their mind.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ was not supposed to have any crossover with the previous Netflix series. Both Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio confirmed this, stating that the initial plan was to keep the new series separate. However, Marvel Studios decided to change this plan.

Cox recently told TV Insider that a lot of crossovers will now be included in the new series. Marvel Studios’ executives decided to make this change after looking at the existing footage. The writers’ and actors’ strikes also played a role in this decision. As Cox puts it:

“I think [it’s] the fans. I think [it’s] the studio as well. That’s a really fine balance to strike. If you’re going to remake a show and call it Season 1 and it was a successful show and it was kind of beloved, then you’ve got to do what people liked. But also you’ve got to have a reason for remaking it. So you have to change it up a bit. And that’s just a really fine balance to find.”

Cox is excited to return as Daredevil. He says the suit is a bit tighter now, but it’s still a privilege to play a superhero.

D’Onofrio Echoed Cox In January

Vincent D’Onofrio told The Hollywood Reporter that the creative team decided to connect the new series directly to the original Netflix series during the reworking of ‘Daredevil: Born Again:’

“During our restart of all the creative on Daredevil: Born Again, all the creatives got together and said, ‘Look, this is how we’ve got to do it now.’ So we are for sure only speaking about it in terms of being directly connected to the original Daredevil, and that’s a great thing.”

Cox and D’Onofrio also talked about their positive working relationship in the TV Insider interview. They agree on many things when it comes to the scripts and the show’s direction, and it seems this makes the process smoother.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is set to premiere in March 2025 on Disney+.
