Mike Colter Sets One Condition To Return As Luke Cage

Colter played the Marvel hero in Netflix’s ‘Luke Cage’ in 2015–2018.

When Netflix canceled its Marvel Television series following Disney+’s launch, it left many story arcs unfinished. But the studio started to reintroduce Defenders like Daredevil and The Punisher into the MCU canon in recent years.

Marvel announced no plans for Luke Cage’s return in the near future, but ComicBook.com still asked Mike Colter about the possibility:

“[I’ll return] only if it doesn’t affect my schedule in a way that I can’t do another season of ‘Evil.’ [I] would totally entertain a good script and idea that made sense.”

He admitted:

“I don’t stay up at night thinking about it, nor do I recall it unless someone brings it up. But I enjoyed my time. I don’t look in the past. If something comes up, great, we’ll talk about it. But right now, I’m [past it].”

The Defenders Are Coming Back To Hell’s Kitchen

There are currently hints that Jessica Jones could be the next defender featured in the upcoming ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’ Krysten Ritter dyed her hair purple, matching her character’s look from the comics, and posted it online in early May.

Meanwhile, the studio shared a teaser for the upcoming reboot at Disney’s Upfront 2024 event but didn’t make it public. The video included a glimpse of Charlie Cox in his classic red Daredevil costume.

The trailer also previewed the return of other characters from the original series like Kingpin, Foggy Nelson, and Karen Page.

Fan Demands Changed The Plans For The Remake

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ reconnected with the Netflix show despite being intended as a separate reboot at first. Cox explained the reason to TV Insider:

“I think it’s the fans, and the studio as well. That’s a really fine balance to strike. If you’re going to remake a show and call it Season 1 and it was a successful show and it was kind of beloved, then you’ve got to do what people liked. But also you’ve got to have a reason for remaking it. So you have to change it up a bit. And that’s just a really fine balance to find.”

Vincent D’Onofrio mentioned the changes made during the production to The Hollywood Reporter:

“During our restart of all the creative on Daredevil: Born Again, all the creatives got together and said, ‘Look, this is how we’ve got to do it now.’ So, we are for sure only speaking about it in terms of being directly connected to the original Daredevil, and that’s a great thing.”

The new Disney+ series is set for release in March 2025.
