Taika Waititi’s ‘Time Bandits’ Gets Its First Look From Apple TV+

Apple TV+ has released the first look at the ‘Time Bandits.’

The first official promo image for Apple TV+’s new series ‘Time Bandits’ is here.

‘Time Bandits’ is a reboot of the 1981 fantasy film directed by Terry Gilliam. Taika Waititi is leading this project along with Jemaine Clement and Iain Morris. Waititi and Clement recalled watching the original as kids in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly. Waititi said:

“It was just nothing I’d really ever seen before. I remember being freaked out by a lot of it. A lot of the kids’ films back then were not as inventive and imaginative.”

Clement added:

“I was pretty young, so it would have been one of the bigger introductions to Terry Gilliam and British comedy. Seeing John Cleese as Robin Hood is still one of the funniest scenes in any movie, I think.”

EW also shared a first look at the show, which you can see below:

The Series Will Stay True To The Original

‘Time Bandits’ tells the story of Kevin, a young boy who goes on a journey through time with a group of thieves. They visit different historical periods and steal treasures.

Lisa Kudrow stars as Penelope, who is the leader of a group of time-traveling thieves. She is joined by Kal-El Tuck, who plays an 11-year-old history nerd named Kevin.

The cast includes Charlyne Yi as Judy, Tadhg Murphy as Alto, Roger Jean Nsengiyumva as Widgit, Rune Temte as Bittelig, Kiera Thompson as Saffron, and Rachel House as Fianna. Matt King, George Houvardas, and Zoe Ventoura also appear in the series.

Charlyne Yi recently shared on social media that she faced physical and psychological abuse on the set of ‘Time Bandits.’ Paramount Television Studios responded by conducting a full investigation and taking steps to address the issues. You can read more here.

‘Time Bandits’ will have ten episodes, and Waititi will direct the first two. You can watch the first episode on Apple TV+ starting July 24, 2024.
