Street Fighter Live-Action Reboot Gets Its First Official Promo Poster

A new poster for the live-action hints at an adaptation that will closely follow the original video game series.

Legendary Entertainment recently revealed an early promo poster for ‘Street Fighter’ reboot at the Las Vegas Licensing Expo, according to Collider. The image featured the video game’s logo painted on a brick wall.

Legendary gained the film/TV rights to the franchise and announced the new project in April 2023 but shared few details since. The live-action reboot’s cast, release date, and character lineup remain unconfirmed, though there are rumors that Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li might appear.

The studio is currently working with Capcom to make a film that will appeal to both long-time fans and newcomers. Danny and Michael Philippou sit on the director’s chair.

Previous ‘Street Fighter’ Adaptations

The ‘Street Fighter’ series saw many screen adaptations over the years. The first major film came out in 1994 with Jean-Claude Van Damme and Raul Julia in the lead roles. It received poor reviews despite box office success.

Another one named ‘Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li’ hit the theaters in 2009. The movie featured Kristin Kreuk as Chun-Li and focused on her backstory.

Neal McDonough and Michael Clarke Duncan starred in supporting roles, but ‘The Legend of Chun-Li’ failed at the box office.
