James Gunn hinted that Gal Gadot may not return as Wonder Woman in the new DC Universe.
Gal Gadot played Wonder Woman since 2016. She said she had meetings with James Gunn and Peter Safran, and they told her she would still be Wonder Woman in a new movie. However, Gunn’s recent comments seem to contradict this. As per ComicBookMovie, one fan asked the following to him on Threads:
“People are spreading rumors about Wonder Woman in Creative Commandos with [Gal Gadot,] but I feel like it’s safe to assume she hasn’t been cast yet, correct?”
Gunn said:
“Correct.”
This means the role is still open.
There Won’t Be a Wonder Woman Movie
The planned ‘Wonder Woman 3’ movie was canceled because it didn’t fit the new direction for the DCU. Patty Jenkins herself said it’s unlikely the movie will ever be made. She admitted that DC Studios isn’t interested in making a new Wonder Woman movie right now, and she isn’t sure what the studio’s future plans are.
After Gadot said she would return as Wonder Woman, reports came out denying her claims. These reports were published during the SAG-AFTRA strike, so Gadot couldn’t respond right away.
Gunn already cast a new Superman and is looking for a new Batman. So, it appears he wants new actors for the main DCU characters. Patty says she understands the difficulty of Gunn and Safran’s task, but it’s clear that major changes are underway.
