‘Lord Of The Rings’ Comes With Female-Led Anime Version

This movie will introduce Hèra, the franchise’s first female protagonist.

‘The Lord of the Rings’ is coming out with a brand-new anime movie called ‘The War of the Rohirrim.’ This movie is special because it’s the first in the series to have a female main character.

As per ComicBook, the film is set about 200 years before the events of the original ‘The Lord of the Rings’ films.

It focuses on a young woman named Hèra, who is voiced by Gaia Wise. Hèra does not want to marry a man named Wulf, voiced by Luke Pasqualino. This decision leads to a big fight between her father, Helm Hammerhand (voiced by Brian Cox), and Wulf’s father, Freca (voiced by Shaun Dooley).

The movie will show how Helm Hammerhand defends his land from an army of Dunlendings. This battle is important because Hammerhand becomes the namesake for Helm’s Deep, a famous location in the ‘Lord of the Rings’ series.

It’s Based On Tolkien’s Work

The story for this movie is based on characters originally created by J.R.R. Tolkien. During the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, it was revealed that this new movie will also explore family drama that turns into a larger conflict.

‘The War of the Rohirrim’ is directed by Kenji Kamiyama and is produced by New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Animation, and Sola Entertainment. The script was written by Jeffrey Addiss, Will Matthews, Phoebe Gittins, and Arty Papageorgiou. The executive producers are Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, Sam Register, Carolyn Blackwood, and Toby Emmerich.

‘The War of the Rohirrim’ will be in theaters on December 13, and it will be two hours and 30 minutes long.
