Elon Musk Slams Hollywood’s Wokeness With Proofs

Musk tweeted a picture comparing comic characters with their live-action portrayals.

Elon Musk shared a tweet criticizing Hollywood’s recent casting choices.

Musk showed several original comic book characters alongside their live-action versions in his tweet. Many of them are originally depicted as white in the comics but portrayed by Black actors in recent adaptations. Musk captioned the tweet simply:

“Wow.”

The tweet quickly got attention. Many agree with Musk:

“This what happens when everything goes WOKE.”

Others believe that casting diverse actors is a positive step towards more inclusive representation in media:

“Giving black kids positive role models to aspire to should be encouraged. However actual leading roles by race are probably like 2-5% black. Even if there was a disproportionate amount of black representation in positive roles (which there certainly isn’t) that’s not reflected in socioeconomic status. This post demonstrates the lack of intellectual depth you have on this issue.”

Actors Disagree With Musk

Teyonah Parris is praising the progress in representation. Parris, known for her role in ‘The Marvels,’ says she’s happy with MCU’s efforts to show heroes who look like different types of people. She believes that this shift allows a wider audience to see themselves in these characters:

“I am so grateful for that. I am excited that my child, this whole generation of younger people, and also adults… I actually needed this sort of content in college. Right now in the MCU and in this superhero space, it has opened up so much to be more diverse and show that superheroes can look like any of us.”

Another name supporting diversity is Ncuti Gatwa, who now plays the Doctor in ‘Doctor Who.’ As the first queer and black actor to play the Doctor, he thinks his casting makes perfect sense.
