Jamie Bell Roasts Fox’s ‘Fantastic Four’ While Comparing It To New MCU Movie

The actor thinks the 2015 film directed by Josh Trank was ‘not very good.’

Variety recently spoke with Jamie Bell and Kate Mara at Giorgio Armani’s Mare pop-up party at Soho House’s Little Malibu Beach House. The two, who played Ben Grimm/The Thing and Sue Storm/Invisible Woman in 2015’s ‘Fantastic Four,’ discussed Marvel’s upcoming reboot of the franchise. Bell said:

“It doesn’t feel like a reboot to me because to reboot something it had to have been something. Unfortunately, our film doesn’t exist in any particular canon. It does exist in one particular canon, which is the not very good canon.”

Former ‘Fantastic Four’ Actors Won’t Come Back For The Reboot

Fox’s X-Men and Fantastic Four actors started making appearances in the MCU after Disney bought the company in 2019. Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier showed up in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ while Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine returned for ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’

But when asked if Bell and Mara would reprise their roles in ‘The Fantastic Four,’ the Ben Grimm actor said:

“Maybe we can try to enter through some multiverse door. But when they see us, they quickly close the door.”

Marvel’s New Film Will Have A Brand New Cast And Setting

Marvel’s ‘The Fantastic Four’ will be set in 1960s New York City. The film will hit the screen on July 25, 2025, with shooting starting later this year. Matt Shakman will sit on the director’s chair.

The cast will feature Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/Thing. Ralph Ineson and Julia Garner will play Galactus and Shalla-Bal/Silver Surfer, respectively.
