Elliot Page Enjoys The Big Shift In Victor In ‘The Umbrella Academy’ After Coming Out As Trans

Page came out as trans following the show’s second season.

Elliot Page recently talked about how coming out as transgender in December 2020 has influenced his role on Netflix’s ’The Umbrella Academy.’ He told People magazine that the show’s decision to reintroduce his character as Viktor Hargreeves in Season 3 made his experience on set ’so much better.’

“That’s been the big shift for me is having a lot of my experience post coming out as trans, or even this last season having been on T for a bit,” the actor explained. “The difference is so significant, and I love it. Hopefully, I’ll continue to get to act and see how it impacts my work.”

Page previously revealed that ’The Umbrella Academy’ showrunner Steve Blackman was one of the first people he told about his gender identity. Blackman supported Page and ensured his transition was part of the show’s plot.

Viktor had a big-growth since the change. An episode in the latest season even showed him confronting Reginald Hargreeves about his past traumas.

“As an actor shooting a scene like that and confronting Reginald Hargreeves in that way and that intensely is so satisfying,” the actor further told People. “It’s just so juicy and so much of Viktor’s journey is leading to that moment, his ability to express himself and to stand up for himself.”

The six-episode Season 4 premiered on Netflix on August 8.
