‘Scrubs’ Revival Will Definitely Happen After The Season 9 Reboot Failure, The Show’s Creator Confirms

The creator of ‘Scrubs’ confirms they will do a revival.

Fans hoping for a ‘Scrubs’ revival got good news. Creator Bill Lawrence said they’re definitely doing it and will work out the details in the next six months.

“You know, I’m really candid about it. We’re definitely going to do it, just because we’ve all been enjoying hanging out,” Lawrence told LADbible. “Look, there’s no huge drive because everybody’s successful, and I think the show was on for like, 72 years, but on the other hand, medical people over here right now are very heroic to me.”

He continued, “I don’t want to do it as a movie, but I’m definitely open to doing a couple more years of that show. It would not only be fun to see where the characters I used to love are now, but also to see what a young doctor nowadays looks like, as far as the kids coming in behind them, you know.”

“I think we’ll figure it out in the next six months or so what we want to do,” Lawrence also noted. “I’m just busy too, man, in a great way.”

‘Scrubs’ started on October 2, 2001, on NBC and ran for seven seasons before moving to ABC for two more seasons, with the ninth season called Med School. The show ended on March 17, 2010.

It followed the staff of the fictional Sacred Heart Hospital and starred Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison, Neil Flynn, Ken Jenkins, John C. McGinley, and Judy Reyes. It also had guest appearances from Heather Graham, Michael J. Fox, Colin Farrell, and Brendan Fraser.

The idea of bringing the series back has been on the table for a while. Last year, Lawrence said he believed a revival or reunion was bound to happen. He explained, “In the greatest way, the cast of that show and the writers are so good that they’re all working. And the main reason to do something like that isn’t the work, it’s because we actually love hanging out. I think it’s inevitable that it happens.”

Earlier this year, McGinley, who played Dr. Perry Cox, posted a photo with Braff, Christa Miller, and Chalke, hinting at a possible reunion. Miller mentioned that the cast is eager for a revival and often asks Bill Lawrence about it. She said they talk about it whenever they see him.
