Ariana Grande Recalls Being Stalked In A ‘Weird’ Way At The ‘Wicked’ Set

The actress recalled an unusual way the paparazzi tried to capture her during filming.

Ariana Grande joined the cast of ‘Wicked’ as Galinda Upland alongside Cynthia Erivo and Jonathan Bailey. She revealed in a recent chat with VMan magazine that while working on the Jon M. Chu-directed film, she and her co-stars were stalked by paparazzi who flew over the set to get their shots.

“It felt so small and private until all of a sudden, we were outside, and the Daily Mail was hang gliding over our set — oh, he should play the pterodactyl in your film [‘Jurassic World 4’],” the actress recalled. “It was a man on a massive kite, floating around with his legs hanging down. With a GoPro. With a GoPro on his toes.”

Universal Pictures announced the film adaptation of Broadway’s ‘Wicked’ musical back in 2012 with Marc Platt as the producer. Principal photography began in late 2022, but the production faced some delays due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, finally wrapping up in January 2024.

The first part of ‘Wicked’ will be released in U.S. theaters on November 22, 2024. ‘Part Two’ will follow in November 2025.

The story will center around Elphaba and her friendship with Glinda as she desires popularity after being misunderstood by others for her green skin.
