Superman’s Sean Gunn Compares Working With MCU To DCU: ‘It’s Like Apples And Oranges’

The actor recently reflected on moving from the MCU to the DC Universe.

Sean Gunn played both Kraglin in Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movies and Weasel in DC’s ‘The Suicide Squad.’ He also joined the new DCU under his brother James Gunn as Maxwell Lord in ‘Superman.’

The Wrap recently questioned the actor about his experience in both studios at FanExpo Chicago. “I came into the whole process of working at Marvel once the machine was kind of already up and running smoothly and doing well,” he explained.

“DC, I’ve done Suicide Squad, but now they’re kind of overhauling it, and it’s new ever since my brother took over as head of the studio. It’s sort of been a new process for them. So it would be, it’s really kind of true, like trying to compare apples and oranges.”

Gunn also discussed his role in the upcoming ‘Superman’ reboot, although he did not reveal many details about it. “[My version] won’t be based on any live-action portrayals fans have seen before. It’s all from written materials with things that we figure we’re looking at,” he shared.

The actor joined David Corenswet as Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabel Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho in the cast.

The production wrapped filming in early August, which James Gunn announced on social media with a photo from the set. The movie is now set for release on July 11.
