Lupita Nyong’o Shares Emotional Message For Chadwick Boseman On Fourth Anniversary Of His Death

Boseman died from colon cancer at the age of 43 in 2020.

Lupita Nyong’o paid tribute to Chadwick Boseman on fourth year of his death by sharing two photos of the actor, one solo, and one with her, on Instagram.

“Grief never ends. But it changes. It is a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith. It’s the price of love,” she captioned the post with a quote from an unknown author. “Remembering Chadwick Boseman. Forever.”

Boseman and Nyong’o appeared together as ex-lovers in 2018’s ‘Black Panther.’ The late actor later returned as the title hero in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame.’

According to his family, Boseman worked on these movies between ‘countless surgeries and chemotherapy’ but didn’t get to film his franchise sequel in 2022.

Still, Nyong’o said Boseman’s presence was felt on the Marvel set. “When you lose someone, I don’t know when you stop missing them. And of course, we felt it so much, making this film without him,” she previously told THR.

“To make this film against all odds is a powerful statement unto itself, and I am very proud that we did it. It was very therapeutic. It restored a sense of hope for me in making it.”

‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ did not recast Boseman’s character, T’Challa, after his death. Instead, Letitia Wright’s Shuri took on the Black Panther mantle, and Marvel dedicated the film to the late actor’s memory.
