Former X-Men ’97 Showrunner Reveals Marvel ‘Explicitly Threatened’ Him To Silence Him

He claimed that the studio tried to smear him for opposing their ‘toxic [work] environment.’

Beau DeMayo recently spoke against Disney and Marvel after they claimed he was fired from ‘X-Men ’97’ in early 2024 due to findings of misconduct. He argued in an OnlyFans video that the companies were in a ‘smear campaign’ to silence him.

“In the end, the offenses Marvel and others have leaked are designed to distract you from what really offended them. Someone like me dared to speak truth to people like them,” the showrunner explained.

“They wanted me to be the Black stamp of approval on this project, I declined,” he revealed. “They wanted to erase aspects of my personality that clashed or proved inconvenient with the misguided narratives they wanted to establish. I declined. They tried to intimidate me with both explicit and implied threats. I was not intimidated. Everything they have done since then has been designed not just to silence me and smear me, but to crush me and to remind me to know my role.”

Rumors after Beau DeMayo’s firing suggested that he shared personal photos and videos with his co-workers during the production of ‘X-Men ’97.’ But the writer’s lawyer dismissed the accusations as ‘a bald-faced lie and defamatory.’

“As a proud gay Black man, Disney knew exactly who he was and what he stood up for,” his statement to The Streamr read, “That’s why they did not tell him to stop his OnlyFans page.”

“They let him be himself which allowed his creativity to thrive. When they objected to his free speech rights and not complying with illegal NDAs, a certain person over there tried to replace him because he was becoming more successful than other creators.”

Disney/Marvel is yet to comment on DeMayo’s claims.
