Ewan McGregor Asks For A Comeback As Obi-Wan Kenobi

He believes there are more adventures to explore before Kenobi reaches the timeline of ‘A New Hope.’

Ewan McGregor hopes to return as Obi-Wan Kenobi in future ‘Star Wars’ projects.

McGregor hasn’t been asked to come back yet, but he believes there are more stories to tell about Kenobi. In a recent interview with Variety, the actor shared that he still isn’t done with the character. He said, “I really do hope we get a chance to do another one. Between where we ended off in the series and when Alec Guinness comes on screen with Luke Skywalker, I think there’s another few stories to tell in there.”

McGregor’s co-star Hayden Christensen agrees. Christensen said he would love to work with McGregor again and hopes the actor continues in the role. “Just as a fan, it’s so exciting to get to watch him play Obi-Wan — he’s just so good at it,” he said.

McGregor first played the character 25 years ago in ‘Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace,’ and he last appeared in the role two years ago in the ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ series on Disney+.

McGregor expressed this interest multiple times, but he hasn’t heard anything from Lucasfilm or Disney about a second season of ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi.’ He explained that the show was made as a limited series, but he’s still hopeful that more seasons could happen. McGregor also pointed out that he still has time before reaching the same age as Guinness, saying, “I’ve got a few years yet before I’m the same age as Alec Guinness was in ‘A New Hope.’ So, there’s time to tell more stories in there.”

There’s no official word about more ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi,’ but the timeline of the ‘Andor’ series overlaps with Obi-Wan’s story. ‘Andor’ is set to release its second season in 2025, and ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ is currently streaming on Disney+.
