Felicity Ward debuted the trailer for ‘The Office’ Australia at Prime Video Presents: Trailblazers in London on Tuesday. She also responded to concerns about her casting in the series by saying, “Ricky Gervais has approved a female lead, he’s very excited about a female lead — just in case anyone is angry.”
The new adaptation introduced Ward as Hannah Howard, manager of a Sydney box company called Flinley Craddick. The role came as a reimagined female version of Ricky Gervais’ David Brent in the original U.K. show.
Discussing her approach to the role, the actress said, “I did zero preparation, because I read the script and I’m like, ‘Oh my god, this is every annoying part of my personality.’ I’ve been preparing for this my whole life.”
Julie De Fina and Jackie van Beek developed the Australian version of ‘The Office.’ The cast included Edith Poor, Steen Raskopoulos, Shari Sebbens, Jonny Brugh, and Josh Thomson among others.
A new teaser showed Hannah Howard hula hooping in the office and discussing the ‘mile high club’ during a team-building exercise on boundaries.
The show will premiere on Prime Video in Australia and the U.K. on October 18.
