James Gunn just announced a brand-new animated Batman spinoff movie called ‘Dynamic Duo’
ComicBook reports that Gunn shared the news on social media on October 1. He described ‘Dynamic Duo’ as a unique mix of animation, puppetry, and CGI. “Over the moon excited to announce the newest DC Studios/Warner Bros Pictures Animation greenlit film for theaters, ‘DYNAMIC DUO,’ the story of Robin… or should I say, Robins, as in Dick Grayson and Jason Todd,” Gunn wrote. “The first feature film from the visionary Swaybox, a script from the wonderfully talented Matt Aldrich, produced with our partners at Matt Reeves’ 6th & Idaho. This is something special.”
‘Dynamic Duo’ will focus on two of Batman’s most famous sidekicks, Dick Grayson and Jason Todd. Swaybox co-founder Arthur Mintz will direct the movie. Gunn and Peter Safran will serve as producers alongside Reeves and Mintz. Michael Uslan is the executive producer. The story will follow both Grayson and Todd in what is expected to be a family-friendly adventure.
Dick Grayson was the first Robin before eventually becoming Nightwing. Jason Todd took over as Batman’s sidekick after Grayson. Todd was killed by the Joker in the comics and later resurrected. He later becomes the Red Hood.
‘Dynamic Duo’ is not connected to the recent Batman movies or series like ‘The Batman,’ ‘The Penguin,’ or ‘The Batman Part II.’ It’s also unclear if the movie will be part of the new DC Universe where Damian Wayne will appear as Robin in the upcoming ‘The Brave and the Bold.’
