Zendaya Explains Why The Time Jump In ‘Euphoria’ Season 3 Is Actually ‘Necessary’

The actress plays Rue in the HBO drama created by Sam Levinson.

Zendaya recently discussed the next season of ‘Euphoria’ on Entertainment Weekly’s ‘The Awards’ podcast, revealing why the show will make a time jump to after high school.

“It’s important because there’s only so much high school drama you can deal with,” she said. “‘And then she cheats on her boyfriend again!’”

The actress, who also serves as an executive producer, didn’t reveal much about Season 3’s story. “I don’t actually know much about what is happening,” she noted. “I don’t quite know exactly what the season is going to look like, but I do know that the time jump is happening.”

“It will be fascinating to see and understand these characters outside of the context of high school and how all the stuff that we saw when they were kids and they were in high school affects the adulthood they have and who they become in a much bigger world. I’ll be interested to see what happens too.”

Production for ‘Euphoria’ Season 3 will start in January 2025, and it will feature many returning actors including Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, and Maude Apatow.

The cast will still see some changes though. Barbie Ferreria, who previously announced her departure, and Angus Cloud, who died of an accidental overdose last year, will not return.
