Showrunner Reflects On ‘Superman And Lois’ Finale Featuring An Arrowverse Cameo

The final season of the show may include a small nod to the Arrowverse.

‘Superman and Lois’ isn’t officially part of the Arrowverse, but the series finale might include a nod to the end of The CW’s shared superhero world.

According to showrunner Todd Helbing, the last episode of the show will ‘honor’ the end of ‘Arrowverse’ as it wrapped up last year with the finale of ‘The Flash.’ Fans may hope for big cameos from other Arrowverse characters, but Helbing explained that any connection would likely be subtle due to scheduling and budget limitations. “The best way that we could approach it was to just do the best version for our show,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

“As for Easter eggs, there’s the idealistic version — in a comic book you’d have all these characters at your disposal, so you can have whatever you want. But when you’re talking about schedules and money and budgets, it would be awesome to have Grant Gustin in this, but it’s just not feasible,” he explained. So, the team just worked on including small Easter eggs that will hopefully satisfy fans.

Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) made their first appearances in the Arrowverse during crossover events, but ‘Superman and Lois’ is set in a separate continuity. Still, Helbing said the final episode will find a way to pay tribute to the Arrowverse’s 10-year history.

The fourth and final season of ‘Superman and Lois’ premiered on October 7 with a double episode. The season kicks off with Superman locked in a deadly battle with a monster sent by Lex Luthor (Michael Cudlitz) in a fight that even damages the moon. Meanwhile, General Lane (Dylan Walsh) has been kidnapped by Luthor’s henchmen, and Lois, along with her sons Jordan (Alex Garfin) and Jonathan (Michael Bishop), races to save him.
