Sebastian Stan Thinks ‘Trump’ Role Lives In Him, Even In ‘Thunderbolts*’

He found it difficult to separate the two roles during filming.

Sebastian Stan says his performance as Donald Trump in the upcoming ‘The Apprentice’ was so intense that it stayed with him even while filming ‘Thunderbolts*’.

Stan said he struggled to shake off Trump’s influence when he returned to play Bucky. He explained that he noticed Trump’s character still ‘living’ in him while working on Thunderbolts. In an interview with GQ, he shared that he’d sometimes do things during scenes and realize they reminded him of his Trump performance. “I went off to Marvel after ‘The Apprentice,'” Stan said. “And we were doing scenes, and I would do something, a thing or two, and be like, ‘F*ck! This is still living somewhere.’”

Stan used method acting to prepare for the role, where actors stay in character even when they aren’t filming. Stan spent hours listening to tapes of young Trump for ‘The Apprentice,’ as the film focuses on Trump’s business career in New York during the 1970s and 1980s. He said the experience took over his daily life, to the point where he couldn’t escape the character, even in his dreams. “I slept with him, by the way. It just sort of ends up taking over your life,” Stan said.

‘The Apprentice’ isn’t out yet, but critics already gave it a 79% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie is set to release on October 11. Austin Butler’s Elvis voice stuck with him after filming ‘Elvis,’ so we’ll see if Stan will have a bit of a ‘Trump voice’ in his upcoming roles.

‘Thunderbolts*’ will come out next May.
