Andrew Garfield: ‘Your Assumptions About ‘Spider-Man 4′ Return May Be True’

The actor acts cryptic about his possible return as Spider-Man again.

Recent rumors suggested Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s comeback in MCU’s upcoming ‘Spider-Man 4,’ and Garfield commented on them in a recent interview, for Josh Horowitz’s ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast.

He left an open door for the possibility by saying, “Yeah, of course, your assumption is not unfounded. If I was in your position, I can imagine going, ‘Yeah, he’s probably had some conversations,’ too, yeah.”

The actor previously put on the Spider-Man costume for ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ despite denying his involvement in the project for months.

So, when pressed more on the matter, he went on, “I also understand that question as well. I also understand in your position you’re going to be wondering, because it was such a success, that you’d go, ‘Well they must be talking about it.’”

Horowitz then commented, “I could imagine how you imagine that to be true,” and betted on an ‘Amazing’ return for Garfield, referring to his original appearance in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ franchise.

The actor joked, “This feels a little tantamount to illegal, kind of insider trading in some kind of way. No matter what I say I could be held liable for that, and I’m going to decline to comment.”

‘Spider-Man 4’ script is still in the works, so plot details are yet to be revealed, but there are rumors claiming the film will follow a Multiverse battle against symbiotes and their creator, Knull. If so, Garfield and Maguire’s return is possible, though none of the cast members apart from Tom Holland and Zendaya are official.

Production on the Destin Daniel Cretton-directed fourth installment for Holland’s Web Slinger will likely kick off in early 2025. It will possibly see release in 2026, between ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’
