James Gunn Says No To Joker Series With Barry Keoghan: ‘Not Happening’

James Gunn revealed that a Joker TV series is not being discussed.

James Gunn denied reports of a TV series starring Barry Keoghan as the Joker.

In a statement on Threads, he said: “Turn on Threads and everyone is asking me about this. No, there is absolutely no truth to this. A Joker series is not being discussed nor has it even come up at this time. Sorry.”

Barry Keoghan briefly appeared as the Joker in ‘The Batman’ movie. Rumors began circulating online that he would star in a TV series as the Joker. Keoghan only appears briefly, and is almost totally obscured, in one of the final scenes of ‘The Batman’, where he is credited as ‘Unseen Arkham Inmate.’

According to a report from Derek Faraci in the Marvelvision podcast, the Joker isn’t expected to appear in ‘The Batman Part II’, but will instead be the main villain in ‘The Batman Part III’. The report suggested that Keoghan may first reappear in a spinoff series like ‘The Penguin,’ but it’s unclear if this was the Joker series Gunn is talking about, or one featuring another Batman villain.
