Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight might be gearing up for a big return in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
According to recent rumors, he could appear in some major upcoming projects before the Multiverse Saga wraps up. We’ve been waiting nearly three years for Moon Knight’s next adventure after the Disney+ series premiered in 2022, and now it seems Marvel might have some plans in the works.
Isaac originally signed on for only one season of ‘Moon Knight,’ so Marvel would need to negotiate a new deal to bring him back. Rumors now suggest that Moon Knight could appear in the next Avengers movies, ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars,’ or in the long-rumored ‘Midnight Suns’ movie. If the storyline involving Kang the Conqueror continued as originally planned, Moon Knight was to face Kang’s Rama-Tut Variant. But considering the changes to the Multiverse Saga, Moon Knight’s role in these projects remains unclear.
The ‘Midnight Suns’ movie is another exciting possibility for Moon Knight. The team-up is expected to involve Blade, Ghost Rider, Black Knight, Agatha Harkness, Man-Thing, Werewolf By Night, and Elsa Bloodstone. It’s rumored that Blade could play a central role in setting up this storyline to bring Moon Knight into the fold.
Isaac previously spoke about his hopes for the character’s future and said how interesting it would be to see Moon Knight as part of a team. “I thought there was an interesting opportunity with ‘Midnight Suns,'” he said. “Now that we’ve set the groundwork with learning who Marc Spector, Steven Grant, and Jake Lockley are, it could be an interesting opportunity to see him as part of a team and what that dynamic would be. So I think that would be exciting, I think, for me, I definitely hope there’s some room to explore that possibility.”
The Moon Knight series introduced us to Steven Grant, a giftshop worker struggling with blackouts and memories of another life. Steven discovers he shares a body with Marc Spector, a mercenary, and a third identity, Jake Lockley. They deal with ancient Egyptian gods and dangerous enemies together. The show starred Oscar Isaac as the lead, and Ethan Hawke and May Calamawy in key roles. The series received a positive response but hasn’t yet been followed up with another season or movie appearance.
Marvel hasn’t officially confirmed these plans. You can revisit the original ‘Moon Knight’ series for now, which is available to stream on Disney+.
