Disney’s R-rated ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ packed theaters and kept us laughing with its edgy humor. The movie is filled with jokes poking fun at the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the actors involved, and even some taboo topics. One joke didn’t make the final cut though, and it wasn’t because Ryan Reynolds didn’t try.
Reynolds revealed before the film’s release that Disney asked for a specific line to be removed. The joke appears in the original script now shared on Disney’s FYC (For Your Consideration) online portal. Deadpool reacts to learning Magneto is already dead in the scene by breaking the fourth wall and shouting, “F*CK! What we can’t even afford one more X-Man? Disney is so cheap. I can barely breathe with all this Mickey Mouse c*ck in my throat.”
According to director Shawn Levy, this was the only line Disney asked to be changed. Levy told EW how Reynolds replaced it with another bold joke, saying, “Ryan came up with an equally dirty line about Pinocchio shoving his face up Deadpool’s *ss and starting to lie like crazy.” Levy and Reynolds even joked about taking the original line “to their graves.”
Disney allowed many other jokes to stay in the movie despite the censorship.
‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is available to stream on Disney+. You can watch it now to enjoy plenty of other moments that weren’t cut.
