Brian Braddock, aka, Captain Britain, might soon appear on screen leading Marvel’s Excalibur. According to scooper MTTSH, the studio is currently developing what appears to be a live-action series focused on Excalibur.
There has been previous talk about an ‘Excalibur’ movie, potentially starring Kit Harington’s Black Knight from ‘Eternals.’ It’s unclear if this plan is still in motion, or if it was ever concrete. But with Harington not expected to join the upcoming ‘Blade’ reboot, there’s a chance he might return as Dane Whitman in this new project.
As for Captain Britain, Kevin Feige previously mentioned having talks about the character’s future. Henry Cavill has since become a fan favorite considered for the role and showed interest in taking it on during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
‘‘I have the internet and I have seen the various rumors about Captain Britain and that would be loads of fun to do a cool, modernized version of that – like the way they modernized Captain America,’’ the actor told the outlet in 2021. ‘‘There’s something fun about that, and I do love being British.’’
Chris Claremont and Alan Davis created Excalibur in the late 1980s as an offshoot of the X-Men, featuring Captain Britain, Meggan Puceanu, Shadowcat, Nightcrawler, and Rachel Summers/Phoenix.
The title changed to ‘Captain Britain and MI13’ in 2008, along with the plot. That issue followed Professor X and Magneto’s efforts to rebuild the mutant homeland of Genosha.
Brian Braddock’s sister Betsy Braddock is the one leading the superhero team in the newest version, which was introduced during the Dawn of X.
