Branching out the success it received with ‘One Piece,’ whose season 2 production started in July, Netflix announced another manga adaptation in the works.
The new project is a live-action film based on ‘10DANCE’ by Inouesatoh, expected to release in 2025. Keishi Otomo, who directed the adaptations of ‘Ruroni Kenshin’ and ‘March Comes in Like a Lion,’ oversees the feature, starring Ryoma Takeuchi and Keita Machida.
The plot centers on two dance rivals, Shinya Suzuki and Shinya Sugiki. As they compete over the 10-Dance championship, a romance blooms between the Latin dancer and the standard ballroom category winner.
“This film challenges us to explore the depths of love and its capacity,” director Otomo shares on the official Netflix web page. “When two people dance passionately together, they become so in sync that it feels as if they transform into something greater, transcending boundaries with hidden emotions and passions. With Ryoma Takeuchi and Keita Machida, we aim to deliver a glamorous and fresh dance film that captivates audiences.”
An ongoing series in Young Magazine by Kodansha, ‘10DANCE’ is recognized as a leader in competitive dance comics. It the ‘This BL is Amazing!’ award in 2019.
