Aaron Taylor-Johnson recently discussed his upcoming film ‘Kraven the Hunter’ in an interview with Screen Rant, hinting at a potential cinematic face-off between his villain and Spider-Man.
Asked if Kraven needs to fight the Marvel hero to wrap up his story, Taylor-Johnson said, “I mean, it’s very much the question that everyone else really, right? Because I think what we’ve done, what we’ve set up in this story is a really rich character that definitely has the legs to go on and do more damage. I think he should go toe-to-toe with some superheroes that we know.”
He also mentioned a comic book storyline that might influence a future battle: “One of my favorite stories is ‘Kraven’s Last Hunt’ [by J. M. DeMatteis and Mike Zeck]. It was one of the source materials I used to go back from, and he’s got some dark demons there, and we’re basically showing the birth of that and how he becomes a villain that we then come to know.”
Sony’s ‘Kraven the Hunter’ is the fourth and final Marvel movie set for release in 2024. It introduces the famed comic book hunter to the big screen for the first time, aiming to make up for the failure of ‘Madame Web’ and the $468 million box office ‘Venom: The Last Dance.’
Director J.C. Chandor remains optimistic about the film’s reception, as he told ComicBook last month, “People have got to give us a chance and come out and support this film, and literally try to wash away some of the other stuff that’s happened. Give our film a chance.”
“I think they’ll realize that we’ve done everything we can to give them a pretty fun story. You’ll see when the movie’s over, there’s potential for a lot of things to happen. But my goal was to isolate our movie, protect it, and just tell a good damn story. And then, we’ll have opportunities to do a lot of fun things.”
‘Kraven the Hunter,’ which follows the titular character’s conflicts with villains like the Rhino and the Chameleon while exploring his origins, is set for release on December 13.
