Jeremy Allen White will be voicing Rotta the Hutt in ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu.’
During a recent appearance on the Kristian Harloff Show, Jeff Sneider revealed that White is joining the ‘Star Wars’ universe for a voice role. He is rumored to voice ‘Rotta the Hutt,’ Jabba the Hutt’s son.
Fans will recognize Rotta as a smaller version of a familiar character, like ‘Baby Yoda.’ The involvement of the Hutts could hint at the kind of story we’ll see in ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu.’
Rotta the Hutt first appeared in ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ movie. He was the main goal in the film, as Count Dooku tried to frame the Jedi for kidnapping him. Dooku also teamed up with Jabba’s traitorous uncle, Ziro, to control the Outer Rim. Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Ahsoka saved Rotta, stopped Dooku’s plan, and earned Jabba’s favor, which kept the Republic’s routes open.
Although Rotta wasn’t a major character, saving him was important in ‘Star Wars.’ It started a long history with the Skywalkers and Jabba. This led to the events in ‘Return of the Jedi,’ where Luke, Leia, and the Rebels saved Han Solo and killed Jabba. Rotta survived his father and, by the time of ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu,’ is a fully grown gangster.
White joins Pedro Pascal, who plays Mando, and Sigourney Weaver. Jon Favreau directs and co-wrote the movie with Dave Filoni. It will be released on May 22, 2026.
Favreau and Filoni showed footage from the movie at D23 in August. The clip featured Babu Frick and a snowy planet like Hoth from ‘Empire Strikes Back,’ with large AT-ATs walking around. The red, pointy-eared alien Zeb from ‘Star Wars: Rebels’ also stars.
White, a two-time Emmy winner, got his third Golden Globe nomination today for Male Actor in a TV Series, Musical or Comedy for ‘The Bear.’ He’s won the award twice.
