‘Home Alone 3: Kevin’s Revenge’ – Could Macaulay Culkin Return?

A fan poster re-sparks interest in the third installment. But is the franchise’s return possible?

Macaulay Culkin’s performance as Kevin McCallister made 1990s’ ‘Home Alone’ one of the most popular holiday movies to date. The actor reprised the role in 1992’s ‘Home Alone 2: Lost in New York,’ but never returned for another gig.

Over the years, several sequels with new actors came out, but none matched the original films’ impact as fans specifically wanted to see Culkin’s return. A new poster on social media made that clear once again.

A New Sequel With Macaulay Culkin?

The fan-made image showed an adult Kevin McCallister standing with a homemade weapon in front of a partially destroyed house. The title on it read, ‘Home Alone 3: Kevin’s Revenge.’

The poster obviously had no connection to an official project, much like earlier materials for a supposed Disney film called ‘Cabin Alone.’ But that didn’t stop speculation about a sequel that has been anticipated for years.

Why Is Everyone Obsessed With The Idea?

The interest mostly rose from Culkin and his co-star Catherine O’Hara’s occasional teases about the 1990s’ Christmas flicks. O’Hara, who played Kevin’s mother, referenced her role in recent Chase commercials with Kevin Hart while Culkin also revisited his role in 2018 for a Google Assistant ad where he reenacted a popular scene from the first movie.

These were enough to keep fan interest alive and push Ryan Reynolds to plan a ‘Home Alone’ movie about an adult Kevin McCallister in 2018, but no plans related to the franchise came to fruition so far.

The closest related project we have now is an event in Connecticut featuring Culkin. Called ‘A Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin,’ it includes screenings of his films and a Q&A session that will take place on December 14 and 15.
