Warner Bros. has announced that ‘The Batman Part II’ has been delayed again. The sequel has officially been postponed for another year.

DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn broke his silence on the new release date for ‘The Batman Part II,’ saying, “The only reason for the delay is there isn’t a full script.”

He added, “Matt is committed to making the best film he possibly can, and no one can accurately guess exactly how long a script will take to write. Once there is a finished script, there is around two years for pre-production, shooting and post-production on big films.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. has confirmed that the release date for the as-yet-untitled sequel has been pushed back from October 2, 2026, to October 1, 2027. This means there will be a gap of five and a half years between the first film and its sequel.

Additionally, there will be a three-year gap between ‘The Penguin’ and the sequel to filmmaker Matt Reeves’ The Batman Epic Crime Saga.

An untitled film starring Tom Cruise and directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu is now scheduled to release on October 2, 2026. Meanwhile, ‘Mickey’ 17’s release date has been moved to March 7, and ‘Sinners’ will premiere on April 18.

‘The Penguin’ Season 2 is reportedly in the early stages of development, and if confirmed, it will be released before ‘The Batman’ sequel. Other notable movies scheduled for release in 2027 include ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ ‘Frozen III,’ and an untitled ‘Star Wars’ film.
