‘The Batman 2’ writer and director Matt Reeves recently commented on rumors that Mr. Freeze might be the sequel’s main villain.
Speaking with Josh Horowitz at the Golden Globe Awards, Reeves confirmed that ‘The Penguin’ series might get a second season. However, the events of ‘The Batman’ sequel will influence its direction.
“Lauren [LeFranc], Dylan [Clark], Colin [Farrell] and I are talking about doing another season. Obviously, we’re doing ‘The Batman 2’ and we have to get the timing of that right,” Reeves explained. “Our plan and our hope is definitely to do another season. We just need to come up with an idea that we think is right, and that’s what we’re working on.”
Reeves said that finalizing ‘The Batman 2’ script is a top priority. He said he’s satisfied with the film’s progress and the new release date in 2027.
Reeves added, “I mean, this year we’re gonna be shooting and I’m very excited about it. There’s been a lot of stuff going on and it’s taken longer than I would have wanted but also, I’m super excited about what we’re doing and I really can’t wait to share that with everybody.”
When asked about the movie’s villain, Reeves revealed, “Yes, of course, or we’d really be in trouble. I hope [it’s surprising]. I think so. I think that the story is a continuation in a certain way and completely different in another. It’s gonna show a different side to Rob…it’s going to be really cool.”
Warner Bros. has announced that ‘The Batman Part II’ has been delayed again. The sequel has officially been postponed for another year. DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn broke his silence on the new release date for ‘The Batman Part II,’ saying, “The only reason for the delay is there isn’t a full script.”
‘The Batman 2’ is now set to release in theaters on October 1, 2027.
