Some movie and TV castings just don’t work. There could be many different reasons for that. Here are five castings we wish never happened.

5. Ellie As Bella Ramsey – The Last Of Us

After the photos for the second season of ‘The Last of Us’ arrived, some fans weren’t happy with Bella Ramsey’s appearance as Ellie, as reported by Marca. In the second game, Ellie is 19, but Ramsey, who is 20, looks much younger. Fans didn’t like it.

Showrunner Craig Mazin ignored the negative comments about the actors and their looks, via Fandom Wire. Mazin was confident the makeup and costume team would help. He also said Ramsey’s age fits the role.

Some people on Reddit also think Ramsey’s portrayal of Ellie is too different from the game. They believe the directors made Ellie less likable to help viewers side with Abby in season 2. According to some, Bella’s Ellie seems rude and enjoys violence, while the game version was kind and innocent. Some feel the change is more about the writing and direction than Bella’s acting.

4. Tom Holland As Nathan Drake – Uncharted

Some people on Reddit think Tom Holland was a bad choice for Nathan Drake in ‘Uncharted.’ They argued he was picked for popularity, not his fit for the role. They feel Hollywood doesn’t cast actors based on who fits the character.

Others think Holland’s acting wasn’t the issue, but the movie’s writing and casting choices, like Mark Wahlberg as Sully, were. While Holland’s portrayal wasn’t perfect, some believe he was still a better choice than other actors like Dwayne Johnson or Morgan Freeman.

Some people on Quora also think Holland is too young and doesn’t look like Nathan Drake in ‘Uncharted.’ Others believe older actors like Scott Eastwood or Nathan Fillion would have been a better fit.

3.  Cynthia Erivo As The Blue Fairy – Pinocchio

Some fans criticized the Blue Fairy in Disney’s ‘Pinocchio’ for diversity casting and the film being ‘too woke,’ according to a forum in IMDB. Some also think Erivo’s look feels out of place and distracting, even though she’s only in one short scene.

According to some, the Blue Fairy was originally white, not black. So, they were discontent that Erivo was cast as this character, as Incluvie mentioned.

2. Halle Bailey As Ariel – The Little Mermaid

Some people on Reddit think Bailey did a good job as Ariel, with her singing and acting, but criticized the visual choices. They thought her hair, costumes, and some scenes weren’t as bold or magical as the original.

As Today reported, Bailey faced racist backlash after being cast as Ariel in ‘The Little Mermaid,’ but she told The Face it wasn’t surprising as a Black person. Advice from Beyoncé, her mentor, helped her cope, including avoiding online comments.

1. Rachel Zegler As Snow White – Snow White

Disney delayed the ‘Snow White’ remake to March 2025 after fans criticized changes, like Snow White wanting to be a leader instead of focusing on true love, via InsideTheMagic.

The film received backlash over Zegler’s Latina casting as Snow White. The actress explained to Variety that her character’s name symbolizes resilience. The ‘Snow White’ trailer had a 96% dislike rate on YouTube in December. Many comments criticized the casting of Zegler as Snow White. Fans are unhappy with the film’s changes.
