DC Studios revealed Andy Muschietti as the director for ‘The Brave and the Bold’ way back in 2023, before ‘The Flash’ premiered. But the movie hasn’t made progress since then as Muschietti revealed in a new chat translated by ComicBook, “I’ve had conversations with James Gunn about the story concept, but we haven’t talked since before Superman began filming.”
Since ‘Superman’ started filming last February, more than a year passed without any updates on ‘The Brave and the Bold.’ Gunn reassured fans that the film isn’t delayed while Muschietti linked the long wait to Robert Pattinson’s return in Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman II.’
He explained, “As everyone knows, the Batman featured in ‘The Brave and the Bold’ will belong to the new DC universe. It’s quite obvious that Matt Reeves’ Batman is not part of this new universe. However, DC and Warner Bros. are moving forward with the second part of Reeves’ Batman series, which, as widely reported, is expected to release around 2027.”
“Releasing two Batman films simultaneously would be counterproductive. What DC is doing is creating a strategy to ensure these two films don’t conflict with each other. Regarding my involvement in the project, there are good intentions for now. They want to do the movie with me, and I want to do it as well. I’m eager to work on the film. We are talking about the story and the tone.”
The release of the next part of Reeves’ Batman has been pushed from October 2026 to October 2027, extending the gap between the films to five and a half years. Gunn mentioned that the delay is due to the ongoing development of the script, adding that the director is committed to creating a high-quality film.
