James Gunn shared an Instagram post celebrating the finale of ‘Creature Commandos.’ Although he expressed pride in the project, he noted that the day was somber due to the ongoing fires in Los Angeles.
Gunn’s post read: “I’ve been lookig forward for months to sharing the finale of ‘Creature Commandos’ today, as it’s one of my favorite things I’ve been art of. Unfortunately due to the fires & the loss of life & the loss of the home of so many people I love, this day is less celebratory than I had hoped. But I am still overwhelmingly proud of the episode & the incredile work Dean & BobyPills & the team have done. It’s a beatiful piece of work. Stay safe.”

Season 1 of ‘Creature Commandos’ concluded with Episode 7, ‘A Very Funny Monster.’ The finale delivered a series of twists and turns, with not all main cast members surviving—and some even returning to life.
Princess Ilana is revealed as the villain of the episode. Circe’s (Anya Chalotra) psychic vision of the future, in which she saw Ilana destroying the DC Universe, turns out to be accurate.
Ilana manipulates Flag Sr., attempting to seduce him into siding with her. She believed that exploiting his loneliness and providing intimacy for the first time in years would convince him to kill Circe. However, Ilana underestimated Flag Sr.’s honesty. Instead of betraying Circe, he captures her and takes her back to Belle Reve.
After the credits roll, one final scene is shown. Eric Frankenstein is revealed to be alive and recovering, cared for by another elderly woman, much like after his first encounter with the Bride centuries ago. He expresses that these recent events have deepened his love for the Bride and then asks the woman what kind of soup she gave him. Season 1 of ‘Creature Commandos’ ends, for real, as they keep eating the soup.
The show has officially been confirmed for a second season in December. Following the events of the first season, it’s highly likely that we will see a new team emerge under the leadership of The Bride.
