A previously unheard interview with Stan Lee has surfaced. In 2015, 13-year-old Hazel Homer-Wambeam interviewed the then 92-year-old Marvel legend over the phone for a school project.

Years later, Homer-Wambeam was inspired to continue her research on Stan Lee’s legacy during her senior year of college. She became the lead curator of the exhibit Stan Lee: Beyond the Book at the American Heritage Center.

During the interview, Homer-Wambeam asked Stan Lee, “How would you say you have affected or influenced the course of history?”

Lee responded, “Well, I don’t think I’d ever thought of myself this influencing the course of history. But think if, in some way, I’ve written stories that people can enjoy now and can enjoy in years to come, the way I enjoyed reading Tarzan and Sherlock Holmes long after the writers were no longer with us. I think that would be a very nice thing. If people are still reading characters like the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, or the Hulk in years to come, that would make me very proud.”

Stan Lee, who passed away in 2018, created numerous legendary fictional characters, including Spider-Man, X-Men, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, the Fantastic Four, Black Panther, Daredevil, Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, and Ant-Man.
