Sebastian Stan joined Late Night with Seth Meyers and discussed his role as Donald Trump in the film ‘The Apprentice.’ During the conversation, he compared the relationship between Roy Cohn and Trump to the story of Darth Vader and praised co-star Jeremy Strong.

The actor shared: “It’s sort of a Darth Vader kind of story, you know? And I hate to say it, it’s like ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ and like, never came back. But — yeah, and so Jeremy’s incredible. I mean, he’s one of our greatest actors. And I was so lucky to work with him. And, yeah, there’s this sort of mentorship relationship film at the heart of it. But many people didn’t know about that. They don’t remember Roy Cohn and how influential he was. I mean, if you go back and you look at the research, you could really see and kind of predict everything else that Trump is doing now.”

The film has previously drawn heavy criticism from Donald Trump, who claimed it was a deliberate attempt to damage his political campaign just weeks before the 2024 presidential election.

Trump said on Truth Social: “A FAKE and CLASSLESS Movie written about me, called, ‘The Apprentice’ (Do they even have the right to use that name without approval?), will hopefully ‘bomb,’” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “It’s a cheap, defamatory, and politically disgusting hatchet job, put out right before the 2024 Presidential Election, to try and hurt the Greatest Political Movement in the History of our Country, ‘MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

‘The Apprentice’ follows Trump’s rise as a real estate businessman in New York City and focuses on his relationship with mentor Roy Cohn. Sebastian Stan stars as Trump, Jeremy Strong plays Cohn, and Maria Bakalova portrays Trump’s first wife, Ivana.
