J.K. Rowling attacked the literary community on X over allegations against Neil Gaiman.

Author of ‘Good Omens,’ ‘American Gods,’ and ‘The Sandman,’ Gaiman has recently faced new accusations of sexual misconduct and assault, via The Hollywood Reporter.

“The literary crowd that had a hell of a lot to say about Harvey Weinstein before he was convicted has been strangely muted in its response to multiple accusations against Neil Gaiman from young women who’d never met, yet – as with Weinstein – tell remarkably similar stories,” Rowling wrote in her tweet about Gaiman.

New York Magazine published a story titled ‘There Is No Safe Word’ on Monday. In it, writer Lila Shapiro shared new claims against Gaiman after speaking with eight women. This comes after the July 2024 Tortoise Media podcast ‘Master,’ which reported similar accusations from five women. Four of those women also spoke to New York Magazine.

A former babysitter for Gaiman and Amanda Palmer, Scarlett Pavlovich, accused the writer of assaulting her in a backyard bathtub in New Zealand in February 2022. She also claimed he assaulted her under blankets in a hotel room while his son was nearby. Gaiman’s representatives denied the accusations and called them false. A police report was filed in January 2023, but the case was later dropped.

Another claim came from Brenda, who said she met Gaiman at a book signing in the 1990s. Years later, they had a sexual encounter at a horror convention. Brenda recalled, “He seemed to have a script. He wanted me to call him ‘master’ immediately… It was like he’d gone into this ritual that had nothing to do with me.”

Gaiman told New York Magazine through his representatives that his encounters with the women were ‘consensual.’ Upcoming projects based on Gaiman’s books are ‘The Sandman’ season two on Netflix, ‘Anansi Boys’ on Amazon, and the final episode of ‘Good Omens’ on Amazon.
