The trailer for Marvel Studios’ ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ series on Disney+ has been released, revealing several key details and surprises for fans.
The new trailer opens with a significant meeting between Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio). Both characters discuss their respective ascensions, particularly Fisk’s new role as the mayor of New York City. However, the most unexpected revelation is Murdock’s apparent retirement as Daredevil, prompting Fisk to question his motives.
Messages Given Through Advertisements
The trailer also includes numerous callbacks and Easter eggs tied to the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). These include a billboard for ‘Rogers: The Musical,’ first introduced in Hawkeye, and an advertisement for Pingo Doce, the guarana soda featured in ‘The Incredible Hulk’ (2008) and ‘Ant-Man’ (2015). Additionally, there’s a reference to Harlem’s Paradise, the nightclub frequented by ‘Luke Cage’ (Mike Colter) in Netflix’s Luke Cage.
Inspired By The Original Daredevil Art
Matt Murdock’s mask collection is showcased, featuring the yellow Daredevil helmet from ‘She-Hulk.’ This costume design is inspired by Daredevil co-creator Bill Everett’s original artwork from Daredevil #1, before the character adopted his iconic all-red suit in 1965.
Bullseye Returns
The trailer also marks the return of Wilson Bethel’s Benjamin Poindexter (Bullseye), now walking after being left paralyzed at the end of ‘Daredevil’ season 3. His recovery seems linked to the experimental spinal surgery performed by Dr. Oyama in the Netflix series finale.
The Punisher And Matt Murdock: Friendship Or Rivalry?
Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, makes a dramatic appearance, wielding an axe and threatening Matt Murdock. It remains unclear whether their dynamic will lean toward friendship or rivalry in this new series.
Vanessa And Fisk Reunited
Elden Henson’s Foggy Nelson and Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page, Matt Murdock’s closest allies, also return, maintaining continuity with the original Netflix series. Additionally, Margarita Levieva is introduced as a potential new love interest for Matt, while Ayelet Zurer reprises her role as Vanessa Fisk, Kingpin’s ex-wife.
The White Tiger On Stage
One standout moment in the trailer is the first look at the MCU’s version of the White Tiger, who is seen adjusting a black-and-white mask, hinting at an upcoming heroic debut. There’s also Muse, who is the Marvel vigilante’s brand new enemy. He emerges as a serial killer literally painting the streets with his victims’ blood.
In ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ Matt Murdock continues to balance his role as a skilled lawyer with his vigilante alter ego, while Wilson Fisk navigates his political ambitions. Their paths inevitably collide as old identities and unresolved conflicts resurface.
The cast includes Margarita Levieva, Zabryna Guevara, Nikki James, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Clark Johnson, Michael Gandolfini, and Ayelet Zurer alongside returning stars Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, and Jon Bernthal. ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ will premiere on Disney+ on March 4.
