James Cameron is set to expand the Na’vi world with a new tribe in Avatar 3.

“Varang is the leader of a people who have gone through an incredible hardship. She’s hardened by that,” the director recently told Empire about the new Na’vi tribe called the Ash Clan. “She will do anything for them, even things that we would consider to be evil.”

He added, “One thing we wanted to do in this film is not be black-and-white simplistic. We’re trying to evolve beyond the ‘all humans are bad, all Na’vi are good’ paradigm.”

So, the new movie will take a different and more complex look at the human-Na’vi tribe conflict. The Wind Traders are also a new nomadic Na’vi group who use giant creatures to travel through the skies, as Cameron shared. Inspired by historical trade caravans, they live in harmony with their creatures and bring an adventurous vibe to the story.

‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ was a huge success when it was released in December 2022. So, Cameron and Jon Landau planned three more sequels, via Collider. The third movie, ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash,’ is already filmed.

Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Britain Dalton, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Cliff Curtis, Bailey Bass, CCH Pounder, and Matt Gerald will all return as their Na’vi characters. Kate Winslet will also come back as Ronal.

Even though Jamie Flatters’ character, Neteyam, died in ‘The Way of Water,’ he might come back since the franchise has brought back dead characters before.

“James Cameron takes audiences back to Pandora in an immersive new adventure with Marine turned Na’vi leader Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), Na’vi warrior Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), and the Sully family,” the official synopsis for ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ reads.

Set in the year 2154, the first ‘Avatar’ film follows Jake Sully, a paraplegic man who travels to Pandora, a moon inhabited by the Na’vi. He uses an avatar, a human-Na’vi hybrid, to interact with the Na’vi and help a human company mine resources, according to CBR.

The second movie is set 13 years after the first film. Jake’s family seeks refuge in Pandora’s water regions after the return of the Resources Development Administration (RDA). The sequel focuses more on the characters, with a theme of family and survival.

‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ will hit theaters in UK cinemas on December 19.
