The recipient of several accolades, actress Octavia Spencer took to her Instagram page on July 16 in order to support black-owned businesses, by promoting and celebrating them one more time.
The Academy Award-winning released a photo of herself that was taken for black-owned magazine Regard and made a mention of her longtime makeup artist, Val Noble, with a lengthy caption. Spencer wrote as follows along with the photo:
“I’m celebrating female black-owned businesses. Today I celebrate my longtime makeup artist (15 years at least) @missvalnoble Val Noble. (…) What I love about their journey is they decided not to wait for Hollywood to give them a chance. They started their own beauty magazine of which Val is the beauty editor and Dimitry is the resident photographer.”
Apart from her own photo, Octavia also shared the other celebs’ photos on Regard cover and praised the works of Val & Dimitry. ‘The Help’ actress continued:
“They’ve done shoots all around the world with some amazing talent and even have an offshoot business called @regardstylehouse where they provide designer gowns for red carpet events. This picture is one of my favorite ever taken during any photoshoot.”
At the end of the caption, the 50-year-old star encouraged her followers to share their favorite female-owned-black-businesses for solidarity:
“TAG your favorite female owned black businesses. 👇🏽Tell us what services you provide. Give us a reason to click on your page and support.”
