The higly-expected comedy-horror film, ‘Hubie Halloween‘ scored huge on Netflix by leaving the other comedy shows & films behind. The film written and starred by Adam Sandler, ranked no.1 during its first two weeks. What’s more, it became 2020’s most-watched Netflix original movie in the United States, according to Variety‘s report.
Sandler’s latest movie, directed by Steven Brill, was released on October 7, 2020, and just in a month, it gained huge popularity on Netflix even though so many comedy films, including ‘Saturday Night Live‘ alum’s, were released on the same dates.
‘Hubie Halloween,’ having been outpaced by ‘365 Days‘ in total movie rankings, centers on the story of a delicatessen employee, Hubie Dubois (Adam Sandler), who wants to save the town of Salem from a kidnapper.
The movie, starring Kevin James, June Squibb, Rob Schneider, Ray Liotta, Kenan Thompson, Steve Buscemi, and Maya Rudolph alongside Sandler, received mixed reviews from critics and viewers despite its high viewing rank. One of Rotten Tomatoes’ critics said that the film is good enough to “satisfy fans of Adam Sandler’s antics,” while David Ehrlich of IndieWire wrote:
“Are those details enough to make Hubie Halloween much better than all the other content Sandler has churned out for Netflix so far, or am I just drunk on the movie’s pumpkin-spiced production design? It’s hard to say, but this is the first time in a long time that it feels nice to watch the Sandman goof off with his friends for 90 minutes.”
‘Hubie Halloween’ is available to watch on Netflix.
