Aileen Wu discusses the movie ‘Alien: Romulus,’ one of her first major projects to date.
In ‘Alien: Romulus,’ Wu stars as Navarro, a member of a group of scavenger pilots. Driven by their desire to leave the Weyland-Yutani work planet and create a better life on a distant lunar planet, the group travels to an abandoned space station that bears her name. Their mission is to retrieve enough cryo-pods to allow them to travel in hypersleep.
When Wu was asked how she felt as an emerging actress stepping on set and realizing, “I’m now part of the ‘Alien’ franchise,” she replied:
“The secret is you fake it till you make it. Can’t let them know. You have to pretend that you’ve been on millions of these big sets, you know, five different studios, huge builds of a spaceship, like a real spaceship, broken down into parts, living in these huge warehouses. Yeah, I had to fake it. I was like, “I can’t let them know how life-changing this is for me. I have to be professional.”
Alongside Wu, the ensemble ‘Alien: Romulus’ cast includes Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced and Spike Fearn.
The movie currently holds an 80% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the third-best-reviewed ‘Alien’ movie.
