Alan Ritchson Says He Has Valid Reasons Not To Join MCU

He thinks Marvel movies are too repetitive and focus too much on making money.

Reacher’s Alan Ritchson explains why he doesn’t want to be part of Marvel Cinematic Universe movies.

Ritchson recently told GQ that he feels Marvel films keep telling the same comic book stories over and over again. He believes these movies are made this way because film studios think it’s a safe way to earn money:

“Like everybody else, I sit back and yawn at Marvel movies regurgitating comic book stories that we’ve seen a thousand times because they’re the only way studios feel like they can make money. I want to be a solution; I want to do something about it. So, I’m using every bit of leverage that I have to create new, compelling stories. That’s my mission.”

It appears Ritchson wants to do things differently — he’s focused on creating new and interesting stories instead.

Ritchson Wants To Be The Next Batman

Ritchson doesn’t want to be in Marvel, but he is pretty interested in playing Batman in the DC Universe. He said many times that he would love to play Batman because he admires how smart Batman is. Ritchson loves the idea of playing a smart hero who also gets to have an awesome cave filled with sports cars and motorcycles:

“Here’s the thing about Batman, [do] you know what his superpower is? Intelligence. He’s the smartest superhero there is; he’s inventive and has all the gadgets and stuff, but he’s [just] super smart. I want to be that guy. And, also, to have a cave with, like hypercars, sports cars, and awesome motorcycles.”

Robert Pattinson currently plays Batman and will continue to do so in the next movie, coming out in October 2026. But this doesn’t stop Ritchson from talking about this dream role. He even enjoys seeing fans’ artwork that pictures him as Batman.

Ritchson is currently working on the third season of ‘Reacher’ and will appear in ‘The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare’ with Henry Cavill.
