Alexandra Daddario, best known for portraying ‘Annabeth Chase‘ in the ‘Percy Jackson‘ film series, took to Instagram in order to encourage people to vote in the US election. Unlike many celebrities, Daddario shared a highly personal post to explain why voting was important that much.
The ‘Texas Chainsaw 3D‘ star posted a photo of herself wearing a covid-19 mask with an “I VOTED” sticker on it, and clarified her wet hair by referring to both the global pandemic and US election. She began:
“I swam in the ocean. I voted. I wore a face mask. You can do 2 out of the 3, maybe all 3. I don’t know where you live, possibly it’s in a landlocked state. I’m in Hawaii now, so I am surrounded by the ocean.”
Then the actor mentioned that once she went to a desert by herself because she did not have a job and she was struggling to get auditions in addition to feeling lost and confused. By going somewhere really hot she could distract her own attention. She continued:
“There were a ton of stars out there and I thought, wow, the world is so big and so beautiful and blah blah blah, etc and for some reason, we can be drawn to such cruelty and corruption.”
The actor added that as humans, we always forgot to take care of each other; the ones who suffer, the ones who have to fight, the ones who struggle.
“We forget because we are afraid or lazy or exhausted or angry, angry at people because they’ve hurt us, angry at people because they are different and we don’t understand them and we don’t want to. And that’s okay, sometimes, we are only human, you can’t stop that stuff.”
‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘ star then pointed out voting was a way for people to remember each other:
“But when we really need to we can step up and fight and have courage and strength to take care of each other because man there’s a ton of beautiful stuff out there and life is hard enough and we need to protect each other. So go vote? Go vote! And wear a mask! And socially distance, even though we are exhausted.”
