Actor Amber Heard, who has been seen in the news frequently because of her divorce from Johnny Depp, reacted to rumors regarding that she would be removed from ‘Aquaman 2,’ in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly.
As fans remember, a Change.org petition, titled “Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2” had been created and it garnered well over 1 million signatures in a very short time. In addition to that, her ex, Depp stepped back from his role as ‘Gellert Grindelwald‘ in ‘Fantastic Beasts‘ franchise; it made people think about a possible dismissal of Heard.
In the interview, Heard defended herself against the news, unconfirmed aforementioned rumors, and announced that she would reprise her role as ‘Mera‘ in the upcoming ‘Aquaman’ movie.
“I’m excited to get started next year.”
What’s more, the actor said that paid rumors and campaigns do not dictate producers’ casting decisions because all of these do not have a basis in reality. She added that only the real fans of the film, set in DC Extended Universe, make the films happen.
Heard stated she is super excited about the forthcoming franchise and the amount of fan love and appreciation for ‘Aquaman’ and ‘Mera.’
Even though Heard confirmed that she would back as ‘Mera,’ there is still no official announcement regarding the sequel. However, ‘Aquaman 2’ is considered very likely because the first film, starring Jason Momoa, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Ludi Lin, Temuera Morrison, and Nicole Kidman alongside Heard, garnered $1.148 billion.
